World Cup 2006 – Italy

The Germany World Cup 2006 has finally come to an end… And a month has gone by without any updates on this blog, which is mainly due to the World Cup.

ITALIA! ITALIA! ITALIA!
Congratulations to Italy for winning this year’s World Cup. It is a hard fought final, 5-3 victory against France on penalties. Despite being an interesting final, the match will also be remembered for Zidane’s “Retirement Header” towards another player’s chest near the end of the match which isn’t very sportsmanship.

Anyway, it has been quite an interest World Cup with several turn of events that made football unpredictable at times. The favourite, Brazil was eliminated so are all my other teams which I support in the World Cup (England & Germany). Many of the major football nations in the tournament were playing below the expectations which we have come to expect from the players.

Anyway, congratulations to Italy and let’s look forward for the next World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
