2006 Countdown in Adelaide

New Year Fireworks

Happy New Year Everyone!!

A year has just past, and now 2006 is upon us. Celebrated the countdown to 2006 in Victoria Square, Adelaide. The crowd was reasonably big by Adelaide’s standard, but would be much smaller in comparison to the crowd in Bukit Bintang (Star Hill), KL. Nonetheless, the countdown celebration and atmosphere is equally the same, minus the pushing and squeezing around the huge crowd back in KL.

Perhaps it would be a good time for me to reflect on 2005 and make some resolutions for this coming year. Last year was an exciting year filled with a fair share of ups and downs. Most of my 2005 was focused on my final year project. The project went rather smoothly throughout the year and was completed on schedule, despite many changes in the design and implementation along the way. I guess we were fortunate not to have encountered any serious bugs in the system that could drag down our progress. Thankfully, all the hard work was rewarded ‘handsome-ly’. Along the way, there were also a fair share of partying and disappointment that makes life so much more interesting and fun.

  • 2005 marks the end of my student life as I graduated from University of Adelaide with a degree in electrical & electronics engineering in December.
  • 2006 will be the beginning of a whole new chapter in my life as I step into the working life.

Well, I have not been making much new year resolutions nor have I kept to any new year resolutions in the past. So, what will my 2006 resolution(s) be? For a start, I guess it would be to adapt to a life as a working adult. Blend into the new work place environment and perform my utmost best in my work as I learn my way as a professional engineer. Perhaps I should also make it a resolution to expand my social circle (which have, sadly, been shrinking over the years), and may perhaps find my “other-half” along the way (yes, I’m still single and available).

just saw ur blog about ur new year resolution(s). it is true lar, going into uni have shrick our circle of life. but as long as you keep in touch with your old frens, i guess you can still keep the circle on. like me and you still are frens and keep in touch although we r far apart.
i agree with ur 2nd resolution which is finding ur another half. it is time to start work and also to start look for the Miss Right. but dont look too hard cause if she is yours, you will know. must look, but not desperately! well wish you luck!
